NEWS ARCHIVE 200429/12 2004: MADS' PARTICIPATION AT GOL CANCELLEDDue to a severe back injury, Mads have had to obey doctor's orders and cancel his participation in the annual "Christmas Jam" ("julejam") at Per's Hotell at Gol. Mads is really disappointed about this, as he had looked forward so much to once again meet with the wonderful Gol audience and share the stage with two of his heroes, Ronnie LeTekrø and Terje Rypdal. At the moment, Mads has to stay in bed, but promises to come back strong later. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU! Back injury aside, this has been a busy and positive year for Mads, Chris and all the others that Mads has been working with, and we like to thank all our fans who have supported us. 07/12 2004: CHRISTMAS JAM AT GOLTERJE RYPDAL, RONNIE LE TEKRO AND MADS JOIN FORCES FOR THE "CHRISTMAS JAM" AT GOL Ronnie and Mads did the Christmas Jam ("julejam") at Per's Hotell at Gol last Christmas in front of a packed audience of over 600 people. This year they will be joined by Terje Rypdal on the show that takes place at December 29th. It is expected that the three guitarists will play individual sets and also take the stage together. A lot of local talents will also appear on the show. Mads is thrilled with the oppurtunity to play with some of his favourites: "Ronnie has been a good friend for years and one of the best guitar players in his genre", says Mads "and Terje has been an international guitar icon and a unique musical force for more than three decades, so I feel honoured to be assoiciated with these gentlemen". CHRISTMAS CONCERT IN CHURCH Mads will participate in a Christmas concert in Laksevåg kirke on December 12. He also played on a similar concert last year. Mads will play his own set as well as playing along with the Laksevåg mixed Choir on some of their carols. GIGS IN DECEMBER December 12: Christmas concert in Laksevåg kirke 30/11 2004: REDISCOVERY RELEASED IN GREECEThe "Rediscovery" album was released this month in Greece on the record label COSMIC STORM. There will be some slight alterations before the album is released anywhere else. 05/10 2004: NEW CHRIS THOMPSON/MADS ERIKSEN GIGChris and Mads will play the newly opened Opus Cafe at Os south of Bergen at Saturday October 23, the day after their show in Salhushallen. I've had some really busy months, lots of practising, rehearsing and gigging - no rest for the wicked! Luckily, it has all gone really well - Chris Thompson and I and our regular band had some really good shows in Bergen, Oslo and Trondheim late July, and in Florø and Matre in August - thanks to everybody who has written nice e-mails and texts about the gigs! In between I also participated in the "Rockquiem", which is a rock opera variation on Mozart's "Requiem", which was real fun to do - it was a huge production with opera choir, symphony orchestra, rock band, dancers and soloists. We did 4 shows outdoor at the Bergen Castle to 3400 people. This fall will be really busy too, "Mad&Hungry" will be touring in September, and there will be more gigs with Chris, The Rolling Clones, my trio and my old buddies in "Sharks&Whales". MORE CHRIS THOMPSON/MADS ERIKSEN GIGS Chris and Mads will at least to three more shows this fall, the first will be in Mallorca, Spain on Sunday September 12, then the "Tiendebyttet" festival in Mosjøen on September 19 and a concert for BKK, one of the sponsors of the "Rediscovery" project, in "Salhushallen" on October 22 (there will probably be more gigs around that time - stay tuned!)
